Housing Benefit Payments & Debt Advice

We understand that customers may face financial difficulties at some stage of their life. This could be due to any number of reasons such as unemployment, ill health or splitting with a partner. In our experience, the most important thing is to try to stay calm and contact us to advise us of your particular situation.

If you’re suffering genuine financial difficulties, we’ll do our utmost to help you. For more information, download the Help with Debt (422 KB) leaflet.

There are ways we can assist, for example we may be able to offer you an interest free payment plan to clear any arrears over a period of several months. We can arrange for you to see a qualified debt Counciller who may be able to help you sort out your finances. This service is free to Tower Homes customers.

Your mortgage lender may be able to clear the outstanding balance for you and add this to your mortgage (they may charge you a fee for this).

If you prefer to meet us to discuss your situation in person, we’ll be happy to arrange an appointment with you. If you're unable to come and see us, we’ll happily make an appointment to meet you at your home at a convenient time.

There are specialist organisations that can help you with debt and housing benefit advice, see related links contained in the 'Help with debt' leaflet.

It’s easy to say, but it really is crucial not to ignore the situation if you find yourself in financial trouble. It’s vital that you speak to us and your mortgage lender as soon as possible.

We’re here to help. Problems don’t generally disappear just because you may choose to ignore them.
